Divorce is one of the most difficult things a person goes through. Mental Health America has a good article on how to cope. You can read it in full here, but some of the key points I agree with are:

Give Yourself a Break – This is going to affect you, don’t punish yourself more when you deal with the inevitable side effects of going through a divorce.

Avoid Power Struggles and Arguments with your Spouse or Former Spouse – you have a lawyer for a reason, let us do the arguing. We will be impartial and not emotionally invested in the same way that you are and it will not cause us anxiety or severe stress as it would you.

Don’t Involve your Children in the Conflict – Doing this has long term impacts on your relationship with your children, and not in a good way. Avoid sticking your children in the middle of everything.

I recommend you read the full article at http://www.mentalhealthamerica.net/separation-and-divorce if you are going through a divorce. It is a quick five minute read and will provide you with insight or reassurance.
